I already posted a song by this band earlier today but I can’t get over how much I’ve fallen in love with this LP. If you’ve not heard it yet, you should. It’ll appeal to anyone who likes punk, garage, lo-fi pop, northern soul… or hook filled pop music in general. Listening to this album just reminds me of why I spend so much of my time caring about music. Anyone who says there aren’t great records being released anymore- this proves you wrong. It’s completely timeless and brilliant and is everything I look for in a record.
This band can obviously write a catchy tune and unlike some bands who write one or two great songs and then fill the rest of their album with boring shite, there’s not a moment on this whole album which is wasted. It’s just relentless and whilst it makes me want to dance and sing and start my own band which is a pale imitation, it has more than that alone, the vocals especially are something else and push this into the realms of truly great records. This dude can actually sing… his vocals are drenched with soul and it just sounds like he means it- however vague the lyrics might be. It’s genuinely affecting at times and there’s a sense of melancholy underneath the hooks which is almost heartbreaking.
I just love this record so much… you should listen to it.
